Highland CSD

Last week was a busy and successful one for students in the Highland FFA and agriculture program. On Tuesday evening, five students traveled to Kirkwood Community College’s Tippie Beef Center to compete in a livestock judging contest for students in grades 6 through 10. The event was organized by the West Branch FFA Chapter and featured approximately 360 FFA and 4-H members from across the state of Iowa.

The contest ran exceptionally smoothly, and Highland FFA members performed admirably against strong competition from around the state.

Results included:

  • William Longbine7th Overall Individual

  • Swine Judging Team4th Overall

  • Overall Team10th Place

Advisor and agriculture instructor expressed pride in the students’ efforts and accomplishments. “Our students worked hard to prepare and represented Highland with great sportsmanship and enthusiasm,” they said.

The Highland FFA Chapter extends its appreciation to the West Branch FFA for organizing the event and to Kirkwood Community College for hosting at their Tippie Beef Center.
