Highland Families and Staff,
Highland Community School District will conduct a districtwide test of our notification system on Wednesday, August 19th, at 12:00 p.m.
The test message will be sent through the following communication channels:
• Highland Huskies app notification
• Text message
• Phone call
• Email
• District social media
This is only a test—no action is required when you receive the message. The purpose of this test is to ensure that our families and staff can receive important district communications, including school announcements, weather-related updates, schedule changes, and emergency notifications.
Here are just a few important reminders below!
DOWNLOAD THE HIGHLAND HUSKIES APP
The official Highland Huskies app is available free for Apple and Android devices. The app provides convenient access to district news, events, schedules, menus, notifications, and other Husky Happenings.
Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?hl=en-US&id=com.apptegy.highlandia
Apple App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/highland-huskies/id6751670803
After downloading the app:
Select “Allow Notifications” when prompted.
From the app’s home screen, select “More.”
Select the settings gear in the upper-right corner.
Choose “Notification Preferences,” then “Groups.”
Select Highland CSD and the schools or groups you want to follow.
Please also check your device settings to confirm that notifications are enabled for the Highland Huskies app.
CHECK YOUR POWERSCHOOL INFORMATION
Highland uses Apptegy as our district communication platform. Apptegy connects with PowerSchool, our student information system, allowing district messages to be delivered using the parent and guardian contact information on file.
Please take a moment to:
Sign in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal at https://highland.powerschool.com.
Review the email addresses and phone numbers associated with your family.
Confirm that each parent or guardian who should receive district communications has current information on file.
Review any available communication preferences.
Keeping this information current helps ensure that district texts, phone calls, and emails reach the correct recipients. App push-notification preferences are managed separately within the Highland Huskies app and your phone’s settings.
If your information is missing or incorrect, or if you do not receive one or more of the expected test notifications, please contact Traci Vonnahme at tvonnahme@highlandhuskies.org.
Thank you for helping us ensure that every Highland family stays informed and connected.
It’s a great day to be a Husky!

The countdown to an amazing 2026–2027 school year is on! Here are some important dates you won't want to miss:
☀️ As Highland Summer Adventures comes to an end, we are celebrating an incredible first summer of fun, friendship, and new experiences!
Last week, our students enjoyed a bounce house slip ’n slide and a special visit from Moo Moo’s Ice Cream Truck! Both were a huge hit and provided the perfect way to celebrate one of our final week together. The smiles say it all!
We are incredibly grateful for the support our families and community have shown throughout the 1st summer of this program. We also want to thank our dedicated staff members for investing their time, energy, and care into creating a safe, welcoming, and memorable experience for our students.
We are already excited about what the future holds! ❤️🐾
🎉 BIG NEWS FOR HIGHLAND STUDENTS! 🎉
Every Highland student. Every home athletic event. All year long.
Pending Board approval, home athletic admission fees will be waived for all Highland students throughout the 2026–2027 school year!
We are sharing this exciting news now in hopes that it helps families plan and prepare for the year ahead.
This opportunity is possible because of the tremendous support of the Highland Athletic Booster Club and the generosity of a special group of donors. Their investment will help ensure that more students can fill the stands, support their classmates, and proudly cheer on the Huskies—without the cost of admission.
Get ready to fill the stands and bring the Husky spirit!
🐾 Go Huskies! 🐾
