Highland Families and Community Members,

I wanted to share an important update regarding the ongoing appeal of the November 2024 bond election.

On May 1st, the Iowa Supreme Court issued its decision on the legal challenge to our school bond referendum. The Court ruled in favor of the Highland Community School District and affirmed the results of the election. This decision confirms that the bond referendum is valid. With this outcome, we now have the opportunity to move forward together as a district and community. We recognize that this process has been significant, and we are appreciative of the time, attention, and care so many have invested along the way.

The bond represents an important investment in our students, staff, and facilities. Key projects include the construction of a multipurpose facility to expand access for activities; improvements to the elementary entrance to enhance safety and security; the addition of classroom and collaboration spaces to support a range of student services; and updates to high school commons and locker room areas to address space and functionality needs.

As we take the next steps, we will continue to communicate clearly about the process moving forward, including timelines and project updates.

Raye is always willing to step in and help wherever needed, consistently going above and beyond to support both students and staff. Her dedication, positivity, and care for others make a lasting impact across our district.

Our second Highland Hype Crew was a huge success! 🐾

We were excited to be joined by Dana Anding along with members of our Highland Athletic Booster Club, Jesi Cole, Tim Anding, Kristin Ball, and Lexi Stewart. Thank you for bringing incredible energy and support to start the day!
