CONGRATULATIONS MIDDLE SCHOOL POETS!

 

Creative Communication, a national poetry organization that celebrates today’s writers, announced that 27 Highland Middle School students have had their poems chosen for publication in the Midwest fall publication, A Celebration of Poets. The students and the titles of their poems are as follows:

 6th Grade: MacKenzie Davis, “My Shadow;” Owen Clendineng, “Happiness/Sadness;” Austin Rodriguez, “My Shadow;” Lexie Skipton, “Hold On;” Greta Pietta, “Tiny Person.” 

 

7th Grade: Katie Herrig, “Athletic Stars;” Wiliam Dunbar, “My Turkey Hunt;” Michael Ortega, “The Lineman;” Mya Castro, “Victim;” Adeline Krotz, “Blue;” Landon Bell, “Fisherman’s Nightmare;” Ainsley Roling, “Blue;” Louis Horak, “The Hunt;” Lilly Barre, “Orange;” Emma Baumert, “Silky Ribbons;” Sage Hartley-Norman, “Staring at the Stars;” Isaac Thomann, “Nature Walk;” Gavin Pulliam, “Fishing;” Adyson Gerot, “Time Marches;” Olivia Edwards, “In the Wind Up;” Landon Simon, “The Mat.” 

 

9th Grade: Sullivan Fowler, “Light;” Katie Duder, “Dear Child;” Marianna Pulido, “Rewind,” Allyanna Pokorny, “Take Care;” Nicolas Oriano, “Carpe Diem;” and Halle Hazelett, “Over It.”

 

Additionally, Highland Middle School will be recognized in the anthology as receiving a Writing Achievement Award.  This honor is given to the top 10 percent of schools that entered the contest. Schools are chosen based on the number and quality of the entries accepted.
