Highland Elementary Receives Substantial Donation for Playground Equipment

Highland ESO · April 29, 2019

Kathleen Schnoebelen is a long-term, multi-generational resident of Riverside. Her children graduated from Highland and her grandchildren currently attend Highland. She recently contributed to funding for new playground equipment at the elementary school by donating almost $500 to the fund.

Schnoebelen is an employee at the Riverside Casino and Golf Resort and wanted to give back to the Highland district in a charitable way. The casino runs a program called “Winning Hands.”  When casino employees volunteer a certain number of hours, the program pays toward the employee’s charity of choice.

To support the $350,000 project, the community is welcome to donate to the playground fund.

“In August, there will be a bond going up for $250,000 to help with most of the project. We need people to go out and vote to push the bond through, and personally donate what they can,” Maria Meller, ESO President said.

To date, ESO has contributed $15,000 toward the remaining $100,000 needed to raise the full funding for the project. ESO appreciates the dedication toward the project by Kathleen and hopes others follow suit.
