Media Release from our Food & Nutrition Director Rachel Cerny Regarding USDA Nationwide Meal Waiver

The USDA has issued nationwide waivers which allow school districts and community organizations to extend the operation of the Summer Food Service Program into the current school year through May 25, 2021, or until available funding runs out.

 

Highland Community School District is participating in the USDA Summer Food Service Program during this time, which will allow for a safe and streamlined service of nutritious meals.  Meals will be provided to ALL Children Enrolled in the Highland Community School District without charge.  (A la carte items such as snack milk, additional milk at lunch, snack cart, or second entrees are NOT covered by this program and will be charged accordingly) FREE meals will be provided at the sites and times as follows:  

 

Onsite Students Only:

 

Highland Elementary: Breakfast is available before school at Highland Elementary. 

Lunch is available during scheduled lunch periods. 

 

Highland Middle School & High School: Breakfast is available for all students in the high school lobby from 7:45 am to 8:10 am. Lunch is available to all students during scheduled lunch periods.

 

Remote Learning Students, Pre-K3 & Pre-K4, and any other enrolled Highland Students not on campus during meal times:

Take home meals are available by registering at the “Take Home Meal Order Form” link at the top of Highland’s website or by going to: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSelyKxTL1ngGES2ysjpPT-A3ISv-oWXkYs-PZwFhWGanrO_tQ/viewform.  Meals must be requested weekly by 8 pm on Sundays and picked up at Highland High School at the selected pick up time on Thursdays or Fridays. Meals consist of refrigerated and/or frozen foods that are designed to be heated by the student or parent at home at the time of consumption.
